Everything has its ending. After representing the German national team for twelve years, defender Bastian Schweinsteiger decided to call it quits.
The 31-year-old veteran played 120 matches within the national team ranks.
"I asked the coach not to call me up anymore, because I no longer want to play for the national team. This team was like a family to me and I hope we will continue to maintain warm relationships," the veteran said.
Schweinsteiger first represented the team in 2004 and throughout his long career achieved solid successes.
In the defender's collection there is a world champion title, third place in the World Cup in 2006 and 2010, as well as a silver medal in the 2008 European Championship.
