Bulgarian national team coach Krasimir Balakov, who had made bold statements before the match against England, does not acknowledge that their fans crossed the line.
On Monday, in the European Championship qualifying match, the English national team defeated Bulgaria 6-0. However, after the match, there was more talk not about the goals, but about the outburst of racism in the Bulgarian capital.
Black players from the English national team had to listen to racist chants from the Bulgarian national team's fans' stands throughout the first half. The referee even stopped the game twice until finally fans who had demonstrated Nazi gestures were removed from the stadium.
Speaking at the press conference after the match, K. Balakov stated that he did not hear any racist chants during the game.
"I did not hear the chants that most of you are now telling me about," - insisted the Bulgarian. - "I saw enough for the referee to stop the game twice."
"I can say that not only Bulgarian, but also English fans behaved inappropriately, chanting and whistling during our country's anthem. In the second half, they used words against our fans that are also unjustifiable," - the coach held a firm opinion.
