The third round of the German football championship has ended. In Sunday's matches, the Bielefield team "Arminia" defeated "Mainz" and secured their first victory of the season, while Dortmund's "Borussia" failed to beat the league newcomers "Duisburg" and played to a draw.

The guests had the opportunity to take the lead first, but Bielefield's goalkeeper saved the team after M.Thurk's shot from the penalty area. Shortly after, "Arminia" defender Marcelinho was fouled in the penalty area, N.Krupnikovic scored from the penalty spot, and the hosts took the lead.
Later, another penalty was awarded to the visitors, as a "Mainz" player handled the ball in his own penalty area. N.Krupnikovic scored accurately once again and doubled the host's lead. Neither team managed to score for the rest of the game, and "Arminia" secured their first victory.

This summer, the reinvigorated "Borussia" club dominated the field from the first referee's whistle, while the "Duisburg" team waited for opportunities on the counterattack. The visitors from Dortmund had a great chance to take the lead in the 6th minute - after a corner kick, the ball was sent into the penalty area, where S.Kehl headed towards the goal. The "Duisburg" goalkeeper saved this shot, but the ball ricocheted off the goalkeeper and found its way to J.Koller, who failed to control the ball.
The guests continued to attack, and in the 61st minute, the efforts of "Borussia" players finally paid off - after a great pass from T.Rosicki, L.Ricken was left alone against the goalkeeper and easily defeated G.Koch. After the missed goal, "Duisburg" players finally woke up and equalized the result ten minutes before the end of the match. In the last attacks, "Borussia" had the opportunity to snatch the victory, but D.Odonkor's shot went over the crossbar. After these draws, both teams have two points each and continue to occupy places at the bottom of the table.
