The knockout stages of the European Championship saw the biggest surprise of the tournament so far. The England national team was on the brink of disaster in their match against Slovakia - only a last-minute goal scored by Jude Bellingham saved the "Three Lions."

England defeated Slovakia 2-1 after extra time.

In the 25th minute, Ivan Schranz put Slovakia ahead. The striker scored after a precise pass from David Strelec.

In the first half, the English team looked quite dull.

The second half started with a promising attack. Phil Foden sent the ball into the net after Kieran Trippier's pass, but VAR disallowed the goal.

England continued to pressure the Slovaks, but it did not yield serious results. Harry Kane had at least two good chances to score, Declan Rice hit the crossbar.

The wonderkid Jude Bellingham saved the English team in the last minute of regular time. His shot extended the game into extra time.

In the first minute of extra time, H. Kane put Gareth Southgate's players in front. After a substitution, Ivan Toney made an assist into the box.

The Slovaks had no more energy left, but they did not give up. They posed a serious threat to Jordan Pickford's team several times.

However, the Slovakian players failed to score a second goal. The victorious England team advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Championship.
