The past weekend was relatively successful for Lithuanian teams, all of which are aiming to reach the quarterfinals of the Baltic Youth Football League (BYFL).

BYFL U15 A group: two wins for Lithuanian representatives

On the fourth round matchday in Lithuania, the "BE1 NFA" players in Kaunas hosted their peers from JK "Tallinna Kalev". The only goal of the game was scored by Justas Rakauskas in the 14th minute, which was enough for the victory.

The "Iron Wolf" VFA team in Vilnius put on a strong performance in the first half, overshadowing FS "Metta" with a score of 2-0. Titas Kareiva and Nelijus Verbickas scored goals against the Latvian champions.

BYFL U15 B group: different stories at the BFA arena - a goal fest and 0:0

FK "Žalgiris" had their most productive performance in the tournament, defeating JK "Vaprus" 6-1. In the first half alone, Ignas Misiūnas scored two goals, while Karolis Chrustaliov, Rokas Kursevičius, and Vakaris Bradūnas each scored one. In the second half, both teams scored goals, including an own goal by "Vaprus".

Only one match in this round ended in a draw. After "Žalgiris"'s goal fest, Vilnius BFA and Liepaja FS teams couldn't break the deadlock in their defensive battle.

BYFL U16 A group: first win for Panevezys and stumble for Klaipeda

The Klaipeda FM team was the only Lithuanian representative to suffer a loss in a match against SK "Super Nova" in Riga. Despite Edgaras Bierontas equalizing in the 62nd minute, the opponents went on to score 3 more goals and clinch a 4-1 victory.

FA "Panevezys"-PRSSG boys returned from Estonia with crucial 3 points to keep their chances alive. JK "Vaprus" peers were defeated 5-2, with Armandas Pukevičius scoring a hat-trick, and Ignas Lukoševičius and Augustas Butkus adding to the tally.

 

BYFL U16 B group: "BE1 NFA" secures 3 points away, "Žalgiris" with 1

"BE1 NFA" scoring three goals in the first half secured a 3-1 victory against JK "Tarvas". Vilius Kondrovas scored twice in the first half, with Karolis Kuodis adding a goal too.

In the match between JDFS "Alberts" and FK "Žalgiris" in Riga, goals were only scored in the first half. "Žalgiris" took the lead through Gustavas Dobelniekas' own goal, with Markusas Spadė equalizing from a penalty kick to make it 1-1.

 

On March 11 and 12, the BYFL 5th round will take place, which should determine almost all quarterfinal pairings. The match between FC "Tallinn" U16 and "Žalgiris" has been postponed to March 19 due to virus cases in the Estonian team.
