BYFL Tournament 3rd round - U16 teams' victories and showdown of semifinalists

Teams from the Baltic States competed against each other last weekend and demonstrated excellent attacking skills, resulting in 18 goals.

In the Baltic Youth Football League U16 division, VFA "Geležinis vilkas", FK "Žalgiris", Vilnius BFA, and "Be1 NFA" outperformed their opponents. In the U15 division, Marijampolės FC managed to overcome a 3-goal deficit and achieve a draw. Only the players under 15 years old from Vilnius BFA returned to Lithuania without points.

The round started with matches of Group A at the Pilaitės manege, where the Vilnius teams dominated. VFA "Geležinis vilkas" had no issues against their opponents from Estonia and secured their first season victory. Joris Ringaitis scored in the 5th minute, Nelijus Verbickas converted a penalty (30 min.), and Paulius Urbelionis sealed the final result (54 min.).

FK "Žalgiris" provided a pleasant surprise by defeating the group leader FS "Metta" from Riga with a stormy attack. The team scored 4 goals in the first half through Klemensas Gustas (3 min.), Adomas Buikus (7 min.), Emilijus Šakalys (28 min.), and Karolis Chrustaliov (36 min.). Leonardas Livčanas extended the lead towards the end of the match, but Dominykas Gelombickas converted a penalty in extra time (90+2 min.).

In Group B, Lithuanian teams faced a tougher challenge, requiring more defensive efforts to maintain a fragile lead. Vilnius BFA took the lead through goals from Justas Vareika (3 min.) and Dominykas Liepa (65 min.), but JK "Narva Trans" forced the home team to worry in the 82nd minute.

In the previous BYFL U15 tournament, "Be1 NFA" and SK "Super Nova" met after a six-month break. In this intriguing and fierce match, goals only came in the second half: Majus Žižys scored after a corner (49 min.), and shortly after Tomas Gudaitis increased the gap for the Kaunas team (57 min.). The Latvian opponents reduced the difference in the middle of the half with a converted penalty but failed to equalize.

In the younger age group of footballers, only two matches involving Lithuanian teams took place. Marijampolės FC traveled to Tallinn and, despite conceding 3 goals, showed their resilience by scoring goals through Simonas Ciesiūnas, Normantas Dumčius, and Ignas Dorelaitis in the second half.

Vilnius BFA visited Riga and opened the scoring in the match against JDFS "Alberts", with Arijus Krušinskas scoring in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, the Latvian team responded with a series of four goals, but even in those circumstances, the Vilnius team didn't give up and managed to reduce the difference through Karolis Sargiūnas (40 min.) and Jonas Ratkevičius (49 min.). From the 55th minute, BFA players were a man down after Daniel Adamovičius was sent off, and "Alberts" took advantage of this situation to secure victory, led by hat-trick hero Fabio Sebastiano Roso.
