"Stoke City" defender Charlie Adam shared interesting insights about Olivier Giroud's situation in the ranks of London's "Arsenal."
During the summer, there was much talk that the sniper seriously considered leaving the English capital, and there were several clubs interested in him, but the Frenchman ultimately did not leave.
Now Adam insists that it was not Giroud himself who could have made this decision, but his wife.
"I heard that his partner refused the contract," Adam told Radio 5 Live.
"The deal was almost reached, he wanted to come, but I heard that it was the girlfriend or wife who opposed."
From Adam's speeches, it can be understood that Giroud was just a step away from moving to Stoke.
However, the player himself motivated his decision to stay in the Arsenal team differently.
"Someone who told me to stay was in my soul and in my heart," Giroud said earlier.
"I hesitated, because when I play and am on the field, I am the happiest person."
"Nevertheless, I maintain optimism and still believe that I can play an important role in the club this season. I feel good both mentally and physically."
