"Stoke City" defender Charlie Adamas says that his team is aiming to seriously compete for a spot in the UEFA Europa League this season.
"The Potters" suffered a narrow defeat to "Liverpool" in the start of the Premier League, but according to the player, it's just one game and it doesn't mean much. On Sunday, the club's new signings Ibrahim Afellay, Glen Johnson, and Marco van Ginkel made their debut appearances.
In the near future, Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri is expected to join Mark Hughes' team.
"Our ambitions are to try to reach a European tournament," said Adamas.
"It would be a great achievement. The loss to Liverpool was just one game, there are still thirty-seven left. We want to experience playing in Europe, it would be a step forward for us."
"The potential of Ibrahim [Afellay] is clearly visible. Bad players don't play for Barcelona."
"In addition, he has only been with the club for a few weeks and didn't participate in a large part of the pre-season preparation. As soon as he settles in, we will all get to know each other, and this year we will be a great team again."
