Carlo Ancelotti did not spare criticism of the match referees after a dramatically lost match in Milan and expressed disappointment that there is still such a big racism problem in Italy.
"Napoli" yesterday lost to the Milan "Inter" team during added time. Both teams had great opportunities, but Kalidou Koulibaly's red card disrupted the plans of the visitors to take points from the fashion capital.
K. Koulibaly was removed from the field for a disputable foul. After receiving a yellow card for it, the Senegalese player couldn't hold back and gestured to the referee, who then withdrew another yellow card from his pocket and the defender was sent off.
Throughout the match, K. Koulibaly felt tense, having to endure racist chants from "Inter" fans. The match referee warned the fans three times, but the referees paid no attention to it.
"I only spoke to the referee about the red card. Such moments usually decide the outcome of the match, as we played well in the second half and were pressing them. Even playing with ten men, we had the chance to win, but at the end of the match, there were more emotions than actual football," Ancelotti told "Sky Italia" journalist.
"The atmosphere was really strange. We asked three times for the match to be stopped, and even the match announcer informed about it three times. Obviously, Koulibaly was affected by that atmosphere. Usually, he is very calm and professional, but he had to hear monkey chants throughout the match.
"We asked three times for the referees to take some action, but the match continued anyway. We were told it could be stopped, but when? After four or five announcements? Maybe next time we need to take matters into our own hands and stop playing. They will probably cancel the match and give us a technical defeat, but we are ready for that.
"These things are not good for Italian football," Ancelotti expressed his frustration.
