Madrid's "Real" stepped into the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday.
However, the "royal" club had to work hard to defeat the "RB Leipzig" team. The German club had a chance to extend the match until the very end.
After the match, Real's coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted that his team was under psychological pressure.
"We played a poor game. We lacked intensity.
We felt that our team was under psychological pressure. We played against a high-level opponent who had nothing to lose. From the beginning of the match, it felt like we were playing with great caution. We had to endure, but the most important thing was to just reach the quarterfinals.
Our idea before the game was to press the opponents. However, from the start, we played very cautiously.
It's obvious that it wasn't a good night for us. I have to take responsibility for that. In the Champions League, sometimes these things happen. The worst part is that sometimes such games can end your tournament," Ancelotti said in a post-match interview with Movistar.
