Former French national team forward Christophe Dugarry followed Emmanuel Petit's example and decided to end his professional football career. C. Dugarry is already the eighth player of the 1998 World Champions national team to decide to retire from professional football.
"I made up my mind four or five days ago," C. Dugarry told the newspaper "L'Equipe". "I spent eight years playing for the national team and I always found it difficult. I never felt good there. Nevertheless, my career was successful. I played alongside the best footballers in the world. I was lucky for that."
During his fifteen-year career, the player represented the French national team 55 times, but failing to establish himself in the main team lineup, he often faced harsh criticism from fans. During his club career, the Frenchman represented clubs like Bordeaux, Marseille, Barcelona, and Birmingham City. His last club was one of the clubs in Qatar.
