UEFA Champions League finalist Tottenham team may lose one of their key players this summer. Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move for a while now and has mentioned that he is ready for new challenges in his career.
The 27-year-old Danish player is actively interested in the services of Real Madrid, and he would be willing to move to the club himself. However, the royal club would have to pay 100 million euros for the creative midfielder.
"I feel like the moment has come in my career when I want to try something new. I have great respect for the Tottenham team, but I also have to say that I would like new challenges.
I hope everything will be resolved during the summer. That's the plan right now. I would like everything to be clear as soon as possible, but in football, you never know what will happen.
A lot also depends on Daniel Levy, and there also needs to be a club that wants me. If it doesn't happen, then we will sit down to negotiate a new contract. If I have to leave, I want it to be a step forward, and moving to Real Madrid would be a step forward. But for that to happen, Real's leaders would have to contact Tottenham and want to acquire me. As far as I know, they haven't done that yet.
It's quite complex. Everything depends on the possibilities. If there are no offers, why not stay at Tottenham? In that case, a lot will depend on the contract terms," Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet.
The Danish national team midfielder played 51 matches this season for the Spurs, scoring 10 goals and providing 17 assists.
