Christian Eriksen will be remembered more in the UEFA Champions League match against Manchester City than any other player from London Tottenham.
Tottenham on Wednesday advanced to the semi-finals after real drama in Manchester. Manchester City won 4:3, however, the Spurs players were satisfied with the result despite the defeat.
Nevertheless, the Spurs' evening could have ended tragically - in extra time, Manchester City scored the fifth goal, but it was disallowed after a VAR review due to offside. This goal, which could have determined Tottenham's exit from the Champions League, came after a mistake by Christian Eriksen, who unsuccessfully passed the ball towards his own goal.
Fortunately for the Dane, the fifth goal did not stand, and Tottenham proceeded after a dramatic battle.
"We got lucky. I'm probably one of the luckiest people in the world today. I thought everything was over. Anyway, it was definitely a fun match," commented C. Eriksen on the last minutes of the game.
"These matches were like roller coasters. We gave them too many chances, but they made mistakes. It was truly an unusual game.
Now we can start breathing deeply again. It will be really interesting to play against Ajax and return to the Johan Cruyff Arena," added the midfielder.
