Christian Eriksen became almost the biggest problem for London's Tottenham this summer. The Dane, who wanted to leave, did not find a suitable option and eventually stayed in the North London team.
The 27-year-old midfielder was mostly linked with a move to Madrid's Real club this summer. The "White" leaders always showed interest in the Dane, but negotiations were blocked by Zinedine Zidane, who only wanted Paul Pogba this summer.
Eriksen also found himself in the sights of Turin's Juventus and Manchester United, but serious attempts to acquire him were not made. His current contract expires next summer, so he can start talking to other clubs about a pre-contract agreement starting from January.
"I wish everything about my future could be resolved as in the 'Football Manager' game. Unfortunately, that is impossible," said Eriksen.
The player publicly expressed his desire to leave the team immediately after the season. Asked if he regrets those words now, the Dane replied: "Definitely not. After all, this is football and you never know what will happen. Unexpected things often happen."
"It's not difficult for me to 'clear my head' from thoughts that have been circulating all summer. I also don't read what is written in the media"
"I have been at Tottenham for many years and there have been rumors after every season. This summer the situation was slightly different due to my contract situation.
I know that most people want to know where I intend to play. These things happen when you play in top-level teams. Rumors will always exist, and you have to come to terms with that."
