One of the best defensive midfielders of all time, Claude Makelele, did not spare praise for the player in the same position from Real Madrid, Casemiro.
C. Makelele, just like Casemiro, wore the jersey of the Real team. C. Makelele had similar tasks in this club as the Brazilian does - allowing the defensive line to improvise for players like Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, and Luis Figo, and covering their backs defensively.
In an interview, C. Makelele revealed that he sees many similarities in Casemiro's game: "He reminds me of myself. There are many similarities in our running style, but also in the technical side - we need to know exactly where to be on the field and what to do."
"Casemiro is very intelligent and always knows where to expect the opponent. He can also score goals, something I didn't do very successfully," he added with a smile.
