C. Pulisic becomes the youngest ever US male football player of the year

Dortmund's "Borussia" team talent Christian Pulisic was selected as the best American footballer of the year.

He became the country's best player at the age of just 19 and thus became the youngest winner. He broke Landon Donovan's record. Donovan became the player of the year in 2003 at the age of 21.

"I want to thank everyone who voted for me in these elections. This is something I could never have imagined. I am very grateful to be in this position and I am very grateful to everyone who supported me," said the footballer.

C. Pulisic received a staggering 94% of the votes. The voting was done by US national team coaches, as well as MLB team coaches and coaches from lower leagues. Some former footballers and media representatives were also given voting rights.
