C. Ronaldo in court: I am here because my name is Cristiano Ronaldo

Today representatives of the Spanish media had a job – anxiously waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo all day, who had his first court hearing on Monday after being accused of tax evasion.

Remember, at the beginning of this summer, the Spanish court filed charges against the star of Madrid's "Real" team for concealing 14.7 million euros in taxes from 2011 to 2014.

C. Ronaldo categorically denied any wrongdoing from the very beginning until now. These accusations could have become the reason why the Portuguese would leave Spain and the "Real" club.

Today C. Ronaldo had his first court hearing and heard the charges against him. Journalists eagerly awaited for the football player to come out of the court hearing, but he immediately refused to communicate with the media and instructed his representatives to deliver a message to the media that an official statement would be released soon.

There was no need to wait long, and in his statement, C. Ronaldo wrote: "I have never hidden or had a reason to avoid taxes. The Spanish tax authorities know all the details of my income, because we have always shown it to them.

I always voluntarily filed my tax returns, because I am convinced that everyone should declare and pay taxes according to their income.

Those who know me know that I always told my representatives to constantly update my information about my income and everything was properly paid, because I never wanted to have problems.

I am convinced that justice will prevail. I believe in justice and I have no doubt that a fair decision will be made in this case. To avoid unnecessary pressure, I have decided not to comment on any questions on this topic until a final decision is made."

As reported by "Marca", as soon as C. Ronaldo was charged in court, the footballer, when given the opportunity to say something on this topic, responded: "I am in court because my name is Cristiano Ronaldo."

It is worth mentioning that if C. Ronaldo is found guilty, he could face up to five years in prison.
