On Tuesday evening, two more second-leg matches of the UEFA Champions League were played. Turin's "Juventus" and "Manchester City" clubs each earned a ticket to the quarterfinals.
At home, Turin's "Juventus" sought revenge against "Atletico" after losing in Madrid. The biggest fear of the "rojiblancos" team, Cristiano Ronaldo, did not leave him, and after leaving the capital, his hat-trick allowed the "old lady" to turn the tide and advance to the next stage with a 3-0 victory.
"Juventus" had lost the first match 0-2, so their mission in this duel was clear from the start - to score the first goal as soon as possible. Essentially, they succeeded - in the 4th minute, the ball found its way into Jan Oblak's goal, but the referee detected a foul on the goalkeeper and the hosts remained goalless.
However, "Juventus" did not let go after that episode - the Italians dominated the "Atletico" half and posed a significant threat to their goal. In the 27th minute, "Juventus" finally found the back of the net - C. Ronaldo punished "Atletico" for the umpteenth time.
There were no more goals in the first half, but Turin's team gained a psychological advantage and practically didn't allow the opponents to come near their goal.
The second half started fantastically for the hosts - C. Ronaldo equalized the series with another strike to the head. Oblak reacted to the shot and essentially repelled it, but the goal was still counted as the ball crossed the goal line.
After the second goal, the pace of the game for "Juventus" slightly dropped, but they no longer needed to blindly attack. "Atletico" could not seize control of the match and the second half ended practically without opportunities for them.
In the 83rd minute, a decisive moment occurred - Federico Bernardeschi broke through brilliantly on the left, entered the penalty area, and provoked a very childish foul by Angel Correa. A penalty was awarded to "Atletico", which C. Ronaldo cold-bloodedly converted, sending his former team out of the Champions League tournament.
In the other matches, "Manchester City" held an impressive goal fiesta. Pep Guardiola's players trounced "Schalke" from Gelsenkirchen with a score of 7-0.
The "Cityzens" had won the first match 3-2, so there were still unfinished tasks in Manchester. At the end of the first half, the "Cityzens" scored seven goals against their opponents. Sergio Aguero scored twice for the winners, with goals also added by Sane, Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Foden, and Gabriel Jesus.
