The Portugal national team and their leader Cristiano Ronaldo have only one goal in the European Championship - to defend the title won in 2016. The first step towards repeating this achievement was successful - F. Santos's pupils defeated Hungarians 3:0. However, the Portuguese team had to work hard and score their first goal only in the 84th minute. After the match, C. Ronaldo, who became the record holder in European Championships for goals scored (11) and appearances (5), said: "We achieved an important victory. We played a tough match against a team that defended very well for almost 90 minutes, but we managed to score three goals. I wanted to thank my teammates who helped me score two goals and become a player in the match. The win was very important to gain more confidence for the upcoming matches. Now we are looking forward to the next match (against the Germans - ed. note), where the goal will also be one - victory."
