Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the Spanish capital was not marked by success - the Turin's "Juventus" team he represents lost the first leg match of the round of 16 against Madrid's "Atletico".
In the second half, the dominant "Atletico" secured a victory with a score of 2:0, complicating the chances for "Juventus" to advance to the quarterfinals.
During the match, C. Ronaldo did not receive much love from the "Atletico" fans. This was not unexpected - the Portuguese player spent nine seasons with Madrid's "Real" club and eliminated "rojiblancos" multiple times, including in the final.
"Atletico" fans chanted for C. Ronaldo to pay the taxes he owed to the Spanish government. The footballer couldn't resist and pointed five fingers towards the opposing stands, symbolizing the number of his triumphs in the Champions League tournament.
After the match, C. Ronaldo decided to avoid talking to journalists, but while passing by them, he also reminded them that he is one of the most decorated players.
"I have five Champions League titles, 'Atletico' has none," C. Ronaldo said, once again lifting five fingers in the air.
C. Ronaldo and the entire "Juventus" team will try to bounce back at their stadium on March 12.
