C. Ronaldo's "hat-trick" leads Portugal to the Nations League final

On Wednesday, the UEFA Nations League final stage tournament kicked off in Portugal. In the first semifinal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal defeated Switzerland 3:1 and became the first participant in the final. The Swiss team started the match more actively, and the first opportunity to score came after just a few minutes with Xherdan Shaqiri, but Portugal's goalkeeper Rui Patricio dealt with his shot. The first goal of the semifinal came in the 25th minute when Portugal's leader C. Ronaldo defeated the opponent's goalkeeper with a great penalty shot. That was the only goal in the first half of the match. In the second half, chaos ensued within less than 10 minutes. Switzerland's forward Haris Seferovic was brought down in the opponent's penalty area, but the referee did not dare to award a penalty kick, and during the next attack, a penalty was awarded on the other side of the field. However, after consulting with VAR assistants, the referee Felix Brych awarded the penalty not to the Swiss, but to the Portuguese. Ricardo Rodriguez did not miss from the 11 meters mark, equalizing the score in the semifinal. At the end of the match, it seemed that the teams would go to extra time, but then C. Ronaldo once again had his say, scoring in the 88th minute after a great pass from Bernardo Silva and putting Portugal in the lead. The same C. Ronaldo then crushed the Swiss team's last hopes after a couple of minutes and scored his third goal. In the other Nations League semifinal on Thursday, the teams of England and the Netherlands will face each other. Result: Portugal 3:1 Switzerland 25' [1:0] C. Ronaldo 57' [1:1] R. Rodriguez (penalty kick) 88' [2:1] C. Ronaldo 90' [3:1] C. Ronaldo
