C. Stillitano: "Leicester City" does not deserve to play in the Champions League

The Executive Director of US sports, Charlie Stillitano, confirmed that negotiations have taken place with English Premier League clubs regarding the possibility of creating a European Super League and added that a club like Leicester City does not deserve the UEFA Champions League.

Last season, Leicester narrowly missed out on the Premier League title and currently occupies the first place in the strongest league of the country, approaching not only qualification for the Champions League, but also triumph in the competition.

Stillitano believes that clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool should play in the Champions League, not a surprise package like Leicester. The main motive behind this is the lack of history.

"In this situation, Man Utd's motive should be: did we create football, or Leicester?", said one of the sports leaders of that country to a US radio station. - Who has a more important role in the football world - Man Utd or Leicester? Yes, they have created a great history, but from the perspective of Man Utd, it seems unfair."

"For many, Leicester's participation in the Champions League may seem impressive, unless you are a fan of Man Utd, Liverpool, or Chelsea. I don't think they should have the right to compete in this tournament every year," Stillitano did not appreciate the wonders of a small club.

Stillitano also confirmed that they have previously discussed an alternative to the Champions League with UEFA: "We have talked with UEFA in the past, as they were interested in a summer tournament. They would like a high-level tournament during the offseason."
