„Boca Juniors“ forward Carlos Tevez revealed that last summer he almost joined Madrid's „Atletico“ team, but ultimately decided to return to his homeland.
Tevez had previously played for two years in the „Juventus“ team, with which he won two „Serie A“ titles and helped the team reach the Champions League final. Although he had previously announced his intentions to return to his homeland, the forward revealed that he was tempted by the possibility of working with his fellow countryman - Diego Simeone.
„Simeone called me and I was tempted by the idea. Playing in Spain is something I would like in my career, but I couldn't say no to the „Boca“ team. Last year the only offer from Spain was the one presented by „Atletico“, but before that I was seriously interested by the „Real“ Madrid team,“ Tevez said in an interview with Marca.
However, having scored five goals in twelve matches in Argentina this season, Tevez admitted that he does not regret the decision to return to his homeland and is happy to have the opportunity to be close to his family.
