London's Arsenal club missed the opportunity to bring back Carlos Vela, who signed a contract with San Sebastian's Real Sociedad until 2018.
The Mexican forward left the Gunners in 2011, when he was loaned to the Basque team for one season. Real Sociedad acquired the player from Arsenal for 3 million euros after the season, but the agreement included a clause that gave the English club the option to bring back the striker.
However, Arsene Wenger did not want to have C. Vela in his team, and Arsenal will add 11 million euros to the club's account - the amount Real Sociedad had to pay to acquire all rights to the player.
"Real Sociedad reached an agreement with Arsenal, which means that Carlos Vela will play constantly in the club," the official website announced.
The 25-year-old forward scored 21 goals and made 13 assists in 52 appearances for La Real last season.
There were rumors in the media that Real Madrid was interested in the services of C. Vela.
