Just a month after returning to his homeland and exchanging handshakes with Genoa's former Italian national team striker Christian Vieri decided to leave his new club. The player joined the Italian club after an unsuccessful and injury-marked season with the French team.
According to a statement on the club's website, the decision to part ways with C. Vieri came after a "peaceful meeting with the team's president and general manager, Giuseppe Marotta, who decided that the conditions for their partnership no longer exist."
More details are not provided, but it is believed that C. Vieri simply realistically considered his playing options and is thinking about the end of his career. The 33-year-old striker underwent knee surgery this summer to neutralize the effects of a previous injury that forced him to miss the World Cup.
