Can Van Bommel replace Ballack? © EuroFootball.com

Recently, there have been constant talks about the possible departure of Michael Ballack, the leader of Munich. His contract with the club expires after this season and many football experts speculate that the player, who is of interest to many European football giants, will leave for another team in the summer.

Now, reports have appeared in the press that Munich's head coach Felix Magath, after Ballack's departure, would like to see Mark Van Bommel, who currently represents a club in Spain, in the team.

The 28-year-old Dutchman arrived in the Catalan team from the Netherlands just this summer, but has not solidified his position in the main squad and often starts matches on the bench.

"He is a very good player, a true fighter with a winning character," Magath spoke about Van Bommel. "He could be a leader of the team, otherwise he wouldn't represent Barca or the Dutch national team."

"Bayern's other Dutch forward, Roy Makaay, mentioned that he has already spoken with Van Bommel and invited him to join the Munich team.

"I have already talked to Mark about his possibility of joining our team," said Makaay. "The German football championship is of a high level and he does not rule out the possibility of playing here."

It's worth mentioning that before moving to Barcelona, Van Bommel had almost reached an agreement with another German club, Borussia Dortmund, regarding representing this team.
