After the terrorist attacks in Paris last Friday, Belgium decided to cancel a friendly match against the Spanish national team.
Last week in the French capital, attackers took more than 120 lives and injured over a hundred people.
One of the attacks took place right outside the national stadium, where the country's team was playing against Germany.
"After consulting with certain institutions and the Spanish national team, the Belgian Football Association decided to cancel the match," the press release stated.
"At the end of the evening, the Government contacted the Belgian Football Association and advised against holding the match."
"Such a recommendation was made due to the prevailing high level of alert and the ongoing search for one of the suspects."
The Belgian FA expressed regret for the circumstances and emphasized that they cannot risk people's safety.
