On Tuesday, UEFA announced three candidates who will be invited to a special awards ceremony on August 24 to win the title of the best player in Europe.
It turned out that Cristiano Ronaldo ("Real"), Lionel Messi ("Barcelona"), and Gianluigi Buffon ("Juventus") will compete for the title of the best footballer in Europe.
It is almost certain that C. Ronaldo will be the winner for the second consecutive year. The Portuguese became the most productive player of the previous season in the UEFA Champions League and also lifted trophies with his team in this tournament.
G. Buffon also went very far - "Juventus" with their legend lost in the final led by C. Ronaldo from Madrid's "Real".
L. Messi was also a prominent star in this tournament, but his chances of winning the UEFA-established award are minimal - the Argentine with "Barcelona" reached only the quarterfinals.
The winner will be chosen by coaches and journalists, whose total number reaches 125.
