Captain of "Amiens" subjected to racist abuse: "Such things cannot happen in the 21st century"

In the French football league, the matches between "Dijon" and "Amiens" clubs were temporarily suspended on Friday. The captain of the visiting team, Prince-Desiras Gouano, heard racist insults from the stands.

"We live in the 21st century. This is unacceptable," - after the incident, P.G. Gouano told representatives of the TV channel "Bein Sports" that broadcast the match.

The match, which ended in a goalless draw 0:0, was halted for 5 minutes.

"Footballers will continue to play, but they will leave the field if a similar attack happens again. We fully support our captain Prince Gouano. There is no place for racism in football stadiums," - wrote the "Amiens" club on their official Twitter account.

The French Football League (LFP) condemned the racist attack and expressed full support for P.D. Gouano.

"The disciplinary committee will commence an investigation. The "Dijon" club has already identified the person who insulted the footballer. That person has been detained," - informed the LFP.
