Vitorino Hilton da Silva, better known as Hilton, has officially ended his football career. Brazil was one of the oldest players in "Ligue 1" of all time, as well as one of the oldest players in the Top 5 leagues or even Europe overall, including all the top national leagues. The 43-year-old Brazilian ended his career playing for Montpellier. Hilton joined the team back in 2011, when he was already 33 years old, and others may have thought that his career as a center back was nearing its end, but it was not the case. In the same season, Montpellier sensationally won the "Ligue 1" title, and Hilton played for this team for another 10 years. The Brazilian also played for 4 years at Lens club and 3 years for Marseille. In 2017, scoring a goal for Montpellier, Hilton became the oldest player to ever score a goal in the "Ligue 1" championship, until the record was broken in 2018 by Benjamin Nivet from Troyes. Therefore, his career was extraordinary, playing at such a high level for so many years is something special, and Montpellier promises that when the opportunity arises, a special match will be dedicated to this legend to properly bid him farewell, as well as ensuring a place for Hilton in the Montpellier team leadership.
