Yesterday, late in the evening, the Spanish champion announced that striker John Carew has transferred to Istanbul.
Although Valencia did not disclose the details of the transfer in the official statement, unofficially it is said that Valencia will receive about 5 million euros (around 17 million litas) for this transfer.
According to the Spanish media, the 24-year-old Norwegian, who spent last season at the club on loan, has signed a three-year contract with his new club.
Yesterday, before this transfer took place, Valencia coach Claudio Ranieri stated that Carew, who was also actively pursued by West Bromwich Albion, a team playing in the highest league in England next year, did not fit into his tactical schemes.
In 2000, Carew joined Valencia from Rosenborg for 8.6 million euros and scored 20 goals in three seasons. Last September, he was loaned to Roma for a year.
Besiktas finished 3rd in the Turkish top league last season. This summer, the club signed a contract with former Real Madrid coach Vincente del Bosque, who, after starting to work, bought seven new players.
