On the cover of the Catalan daily newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" today is Real Madrid's midfielder Isco.
Catalans claim that Barcelona is seriously interested in acquiring the star footballer. However, this will not happen during the upcoming January or summer transfer window, but after Isco's contract with Real Madrid expires.
Isco had a tough start to the season in Madrid, but after suffering injuries, he gained the trust of Zinedine Zidane and is currently demonstrating top-class football. The 24-year-old player received especially good reviews after the match against Atletico.
The Madrid newspaper says that Real Madrid is working on renewing Isco's contract, but the player himself is not in a hurry to accept the offer because his main desire is not to get a higher salary, but a guaranteed place on the field and more playing time.
"Mundo Deportivo" reports that Barcelona has started contacting the player's representatives and will try to sign him for free in 2018, as Isco's contract with Real Madrid expires then.
Many other clubs are also interested in the player, including Tottenham, Arsenal, and Juventus. However, it is doubted whether Real Madrid would risk letting him go for a bargain price and if they see that Isco does not want a new contract, they will sell him in the summer of 2017 or the winter of 2018.
Nevertheless, it is most likely that after the season, the young Spanish player will sign a new long-term contract with Real Madrid.
Isco played 12 matches this season, scored two goals, and made three assists.
