Due to the postponement of the Scottish League Cup final, the country's Premier League match on Wednesday saw league leader Glasgow Celtic defeat the Inverness team at home and secure their 24th season win, putting them two steps closer to the champions title.

Before the match, players and fans paid tribute to the recently deceased Celtic legend Jimmy Johnstone with applause. At the beginning of the match, the home team players Maciej Zurawski and Shunsuke Nakamura missed good opportunities, while the visitor's player Graham Bayne also missed a chance to score and headed wide.

In the 35th minute, a header from S. Nakamura led Celtic ahead and was scored by Stephen McManus, and in the 79th minute, Shaun Maloney secured another goal for Glasgow with a precise penalty kick.
