The Madrid team "Atletico" achieved their second victory of the season, defeating Leverkusen's "Bayer" team in a rather dull match.
Throughout the match, both teams spent more time defending than creating real opportunities. In the 78th minute, one of the few chances brought victory to the "Atletico" team - after a great pass from Renan Lodi, Alvaro Morata scored with a header.
"Atletico", having won two matches and played one in a draw, temporarily became the leader of Group D. This was the third consecutive defeat for the Bayer team, which may have eliminated all hopes of reaching the quarterfinals.
In the other match, Shakhtar Donetsk achieved a draw against Dinamo Zagreb. The Ukrainians took the lead, but the visitors turned the result to their favor in the second half. However, in the 75th minute, Zagreb's team had to settle for a draw without Dodo.
