UEFA Champions League matches were played on Wednesday in the 5th round of groups A-D.
In group A, Donetsk's "Shakhtar" clashed with the recently tragic Madrid "Real" team at home. Rafael Benitez's players led 0-4, but at the end of the match, they conceded three goals and almost faced embarrassment.
After two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Dani Carvajal with Luka Modric, "Real" could celebrate a 0-4 lead in the 70th minute, but Ukrainians forced the "Whites" to worry at the end of the match by scoring three goals in 11 minutes. Nevertheless, the hosts failed to reach the fourth accurate shot, and "Real" secured the top spot after the victory.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain did not show mercy to "Malmo" in their away game and crushed them with a 0-5 result. Laurent Blanc's players secured their place in the next stage.
In group B, the situation is a bit more complicated. "Wolfsburg," with a 0-2 result over Moscow's "CSKA," rose to the top spot, but they are not yet certain of a ticket to the next stage.
Manchester United, in front of their own fans, did not break Eindhoven PSV and remains in second place with 8 points. The fight for tickets to the quarterfinals will be fierce in the last round, as PSV, currently in third place, still has a chance to grab the top spot.
In group C, two teams have already made it to the quarterfinals. Lisbon's "Benfica" played a draw with "Astana," and "Atletico" easily defeated Istanbul's "Galatasaray." In the last round, "Atletico" and "Benfica" will face each other, both with 10 points each.
In group D, Turin's "Juventus" celebrated a victory against Manchester City with Mario Mandzukic's goal and secured a spot in the quarterfinals. The "Citizens" had already secured a ticket to the next stage, but in the 6th round, the winner of the first place will be decided.
