On Tuesday evening, eleven UEFA Champions League qualifying matches were played, after which the teams advancing to the fourth round were revealed. The winners have already secured a place, at least in the Europa League, while the teams experiencing failures will compete in the final phase of this tournament.
A small surprise was presented by the Vilnius "Žalgiris" players, who overcame the barrier of "Malmo" with some difficulties, scoring three goals in the first half at home against Salzburg's "Red Bull" goal. Despite the fact that the hosts were left with ten men in the 64th minute, precise strikes from Nikola Djurdjič, Markus Rosenberg, and Vladimir Rodich guaranteed them a ticket to the next round.
However, "Malmo" had lost the first match away by a score of 0-2, so the overall "Red Bull" deficit was minimal.
In another match in Ukraine, Istanbul's "Fenerbahce" were also defeated by the same score, by Donetsk's "Shakhtar". The goals were scored by Oleksandr Gladky, Darijo Srna, and Alex Teixeira, who have been joined by several well-known footballers this summer.
Also advancing to the final stage of the qualifiers of the strongest European tournament were teams like Moscow's "CSKA" and "Basel", who erased a two-goal deficit.
