On Wednesday evening, eight matches of the 2nd round of group stage A-D of the UEFA Champions League were played.
After quite a long break, the strongest tournament of the Old Continent returned to the legendary "Old Trafford" stadium. "Manchester United" clashed with "Wolfsburg" and celebrated victory after a tough battle with a score of 2-1.
The guests from Germany took the lead in the 4th minute, but in the 34th minute Juan Mata managed to equalize in the match. Towards the end of the second half, after a pass from J. Mata, defender Chris Smalling scored a great goal that determined the outcome of the game.
In another clash in group B, Moscow's CSKA barely wasted a three-goal lead but managed to achieve victory with a score of 3-2. All teams in this group have 3 points each.
In the "Group of Death," Manchester City also had to test the strength of the German team. Manuel Pellegrini's team, thanks to a goal from Sergio Aguero, secured victory against Monchengladbach's "Borussia."
In the early stages of the second half, "Gladbach" took the lead, but the result soon became level, 1-1. In the final minutes of the match, "Man City" received a "gift" when a penalty kick was awarded. Sergio Aguero successfully converted it.
Turin's "Juventus" defeated "Sevilla" with a score of 2-0 and occupies the first place in Group D with 6 points. Meanwhile, "Man City" and "Sevilla" share 2nd and 3rd positions.
In Group A, Cristiano Ronaldo's Madrid team "Real" won 2-0 against "Malmo", while Paris' "Saint-Germain" crushed Donetsk's "Shakhtar". The giants of Spain and France lead the tournament table.
There was no luck for Madrid's "Atletico", which suffered a defeat against Lisbon's "Benfica". The match between "Astana" and Istanbul's "Galatasaray" ended in a draw at 2-2. Interestingly, in this match, three own goals were scored.
