"Championship" leaders duel - two missed "Cardiff" penalties in extra time (VIDEO)

On Friday evening, a real football drama unfolded in the second-tier "Championship" league in England.

In Wales, two teams vying for the title clashed - local "Cardiff" against "Wolves". In a dramatic showdown, the "Wolves" who were closely pushing for the title emerged triumphant, just a hair away from their opponents.

"Cardiff" started the match very actively and dominated the first half, but in the 67th minute, Ruben Neves's mastery allowed the visitors to take the lead - one of the best players of the league this season scored a superb penalty to put "Wolves" ahead.

However, "Cardiff" did not give up and tried to equalize. Their hope of taking two points from the opponents was restored by Mike Dean's awarded penalty in the 93rd minute.

The home fans were already ready to celebrate, but the "Wolves" goalkeeper reacted brilliantly to Gary Madine's shot and the ball ended up behind the goal. "Cardiff" quickly played the ball after a corner and sensationally earned another penalty - this time Junior Hoilett stepped up to take it.

This decision also did not bring success - the Canadian shook the goal frame with a strong shot, but did not reach the goal, and successfully defended two penalties at the end of the match, the "Wolves" triumphed.

The "Wolves" club, which has played one more game than "Cardiff", gained a 9-point advantage over their second-place rivals.

There are still five rounds left until the end of the competition.
