On Friday evening, the second strongest division in England, the Championship, began. In the first match of the 2022-23 season, Burnley defeated Huddersfield Town 1-0 in an away game. Vincent Kompany, who stood at the helm for Burnley for the first time in official matches, made a successful debut. The former Manchester City defender returned to England from the Anderlecht team. In the match, the winning goal was scored in the 18th minute by defender Ianas Maatsenas. Interestingly, six players made their debut for Burnley from the beginning of the match, and two more debutante players came off the bench.
