Change of Coaches in "Southampton" Club © EuroFootball.com

The club announced today that Paul Sturrock is leaving the position of head coach. The decision was made by mutual agreement. The position of head coach will be taken by Steve Wigley.

P. Sturrock spent five and a half months in his position, but only managed 13 club matches. An ultimatum was issued to the coach after a loss to the club. A win in the second match did not save his position.

"I was appointed head coach and my responsibility is to lead the club forward," said Steve Wigley.

"After discussions over the weekend, it was decided that Paul Sturrock will leave the club by mutual agreement," said Southampton director Rupert Lowe. "Steve Wigley will take responsibility for the first team's preparation until the board considers the most suitable leadership structure for the club."

P. Sturrock earned a good reputation leading the Plymouth club. His team managed to rise from the third to the second division in three years.
