Granit Xhaka should still remain in London's Arsenal club, according to The Athletic and journalist Fabrizio Romano. During the European Championship, the Swiss midfielder was heavily linked with AS Roma, and Arsenal was very close to reaching an agreement with Roma regarding the transfer. Practically no one doubted that G. Xhaka would play in Italy next season. However, now it seems that everything is changing. Both The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano say that G. Xhaka should sign a new contract with the Arsenal team. The Italian journalist states that the new contract should be until 2025. Arsenal's coach Mikel Arteta said about Xhaka: "Granit will stay with us. He is a player we highly value, he is a key player in our team." Meanwhile, AS Roma this summer offered Arsenal at best 12 million euros plus 3 million euros in bonuses for G. Xhaka, which did not satisfy the London club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
