"There have been significant changes at the "Valencia" club for some time now.
Initially, the news that "Valencia" president Peter Lim decided to relieve Marcelino of his duties as head coach and sports director Mateu Alemany was announced by close journalist Hector Gomez to the club.
Shortly after, this information was confirmed by the club itself, which also announced that Albert Celades, who had previously worked with youth teams and briefly served as an assistant at "Real" Madrid, was taking Marcelino's place.
Talks about these changes had already started at the beginning of the summer, when there was a strong disagreement between M. Alemany and P. Lim. The "Valencia" president wanted to dismiss the former from his position as sports director even then, but Marcelino stood in the way, threatening to leave the team as well.
At the start of the season, it seemed like the problem was resolved, but during the international break, the relationships between all three parties changed drastically.
Marcelino, who has been managing the "Valencia" team since 2017 alongside M. Alemany, had already been working together for several years.
Under Marcelino's leadership, "Valencia" won the King's Cup last season.
