During the press conference held on Tuesday, the new head coach Iain Dowie was introduced, replacing Alan Curbishley who left the team after the season.

The 41-year-old former Northern Ireland striker left the London team "Crystal Palace" in the second division after they failed to secure a promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.

A.Curbishley had been in charge of the team since 1991, when he became the head coach alongside Steve Gritt.

Today, "Charlton" also confirmed that defender Jonathan Fortune will remain in the team. Although the 25-year-old defender, who played only 13 matches last season, had his contract set to expire this summer, he was actively pursued by "Bolton," "Middlesbrough," and "Man City." Nonetheless, it is believed that the appointment of a new head coach led to the extension of the player's contract.

In the recently concluded English championship, "Charlton" finished in 13th place, although they were in the top ten during the first half of the season.
