This season, the London club, finishing in the 19th place in the English Premier League and set to play in the lower Championship League next year, decided to part ways with forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's services.
The 35-year-old veteran, who had two successful seasons with Middlesbrough, joined Charlton this summer as a free agent.
However, the former Chelsea striker failed to showcase all of his abilities while playing for Charlton this season, scoring only 2 goals in 25 Premier League matches and falling short of the club's expectations as Charlton got relegated to the Championship League.
The former Dutch national team member scored his last goal wearing Charlton's jersey in a 3-1 defeat against his former club Middlesbrough in January.
