Due to the fight for survival in the English Premier League, the club will strengthen its ranks with the promising Danish youth international Martin Christensen. He has signed a four-year contract with the Danish and will arrive at the English club in the summer.
"This contract is a step towards the future. We have high hopes for Martin. He took a big step by accepting our offer and coming to such a level, but I believe that at his age, he will quickly improve," said Charlton coach Alan Pardew about the 19-year-old defender.
Charlton will pay approximately 400,000 euros in compensation to Martin Christensen's current club Herfolge, coached by Aurelijus Skarbalius. Depending on the player's performance, this amount could increase by another 250,000 euros. Additionally, both clubs have entered into a three-year collaboration agreement.
Having won the Danish championship in 2000, Herfolge is known in Denmark as a forge of young talent.
M. Christensen will become the third Dane at Charlton, joining striker Dennis Rommedahl and goalkeeper Mads Nielsen.
