On the second day of the Champions League quarter-finals, the hosts fared better - Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich with a two-goal lead on their home turf, while Milan club defeated Inter in the city derby with the same margin of victory. In the latter match, unlike in London, the hosts did not concede any goals into their own net.

Under the guidance of assistant S. Clark, Chelsea surged ahead in the fourth minute when J. Cole's deflected shot off Lucio's leg changed trajectory and flew into the goal. After the conceded goal, the German visitors took the initiative but failed to create more dangerous chances. The only real opportunity they had was a miss by defender G. Johnson, while Ze Roberto's shot flew wide of the mark.
In the second half, Bayern managed to equalize the score after seven minutes - with Ze Roberto's shot rebounded by goalkeeper P. Cech, the first to the ball, B. Schweinsteiger sent it to the net. However, this did not deter the London team, as Lampard scored two goals in the 60th and 70th minutes to defeat O. Kahn, giving Chelsea a lead of 3-1 and gaining more control over the game.
The Bayern players seemed surprised by the match's turn and struggled to find a way towards the opponents' goal. Meanwhile, the hosts were in top form, and in the 81st minute after a corner kick, D. Drogba scored Chelsea's fourth goal.
Although it seemed like Chelsea had one foot in the semi-finals, in the final moments of the match, the Munich team regained hope - M. Ballack was fouled in the penalty area and he himself converted the penalty kick. Bayern lost 4-2 but will have a chance to seek revenge at home with a necessary 2-0 result.

The two Milan giants met at San Siro Stadium in the semi-final match for the second time in the last two years, with the home team being the Italian champions, Milan.
Despite this, Inter had better chances at the beginning of the first half: first, the goalkeeper saved S. Mihajlovic's free-kick, then striker J. Cruz missed a couple of opportunities to score, then Milan threatened the goal with J. Veron, and towards the end of the first half, Dida managed to block a shot from the same J. Cruz.
The first goal, although not from open play, "fell" at the end of the first half - it was a penalty kick, A. Pirlo delivered it into the penalty area, and defender J. Stam headed the ball into the net on the opponents' side.
The second half started much like the first - with a dangerous free-kick by S. Mihajlovic. Shortly after, A. Shevchenko almost doubled the lead, but perhaps concerned about his previous injury, he decided to aim for the ball with his foot instead of his head and missed a good opportunity.
However, the Ukrainian reached his 74th minute when again after A. Pirlo's free-kick, he headed past the opponent's goalkeeper F. Toldo. Inter's confidence waned, and the opponents began to control the game.
At the end of the match, both teams exchanged dangerous chances. "Visitors" goalkeeper G. Karagounis hit the crossbar, and F. Toldo managed to block a great shot from A. Shevchenko. The result remained unchanged, so Milan won the derby and moved closer to the semi-finals.
