On the fifth day of the January transfer window, Chelsea presented their first purchase.
The London team officially added AS Monaco center-back Benoit Badiashile for 38 million euros.
The 21-year-old center-back signed a 6.5-year contract with Chelsea.
Representing Monaco in the last 3 seasons, B. Badiashile played 81 matches, scored 5 goals, and made 2 assists.
In a three-center-back scheme, B. Badiashile plays on the left side. Chelsea specifically sought this type of center-back after failing to reach an agreement with Leipzig for Josko Gvardiol's transfer.
