The Belgian national team player is not willing to extend his contract with the "Spurs", so he will almost certainly be sold.
The 29-year-old footballer is being followed by big clubs like "Manchester United" and "Barcelona", but the "Blues" hope to be the first ones to agree on the Belgian's transfer.
“Chelsea” officials will try to lower Alderweireld's price from the £55 million requested by “Tottenham” to £40 million, which the last season's English champions would agree to pay without further negotiations.
The central defender, who spent a large part of the season recovering from injury, only made 17 appearances this year. Nevertheless, he is still considered one of the best defenders in the entire "Premier" league.
