When the transfer window closes, "Chelsea" is looking to strengthen not only their attackers but also their midfield defensive line. Mike Verweij from "De Telegraaf" reports that "Chelsea" has offered 50 million euros for "Ajax" defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez. After Antony's departure, the Amsterdam team set a goal not to sell any more key players, but E. Alvarez wants to leave the club, adds M. Verweij. The London club is offering the Mexican player four times higher salary and the player's wish is for negotiations between the clubs to start immediately. However, "Ajax" does not want to sell either him or Mohammed Kudus, who has an offer from Everton. This summer, the Dutch champions said goodbye to Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Nicolas Tagliafico, Perr Schuurs, Sebastian Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, and Noussair Mazraoui. Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday that "Chelsea" is close to an agreement with "Leipzig" for the transfer of Josko Gvardiol for which they may pay 90 million euros.
