The sports director of the club, Frank Baldini (Franco Baldini), admitted that the Italian team has started negotiations with Chelsea regarding the sale of defender Walter Samuel.
However, Baldini denied that Chelsea has made a specific offer: "I can confirm that Chelsea is interested in W. Samuel. We spoke with their English counterparts and they asked for more information about the player, but they did not make any official offer."
At the moment, the Roma club is forced to sell some of its stars, as the club is heavily in debt. Two Roma players - and W. Samuel - have attracted a lot of interest from big clubs.
The defender himself recently stated that he would like to play in England.
